Conference registration

Conference registration fee: € 800

This fee includes bus transport from Reykjavík to conference Hotel Örk (9 Sept.),  icebreaker (9 Sept.), coffee breaks and three lunches (10-12 Sept.), two dinners (10-11 Sept.), mid-conference field trip (11 Sept.), bus transport from Hotel Örk to Reykjavík (12 Sept.) and conference materials and venue at Hotel Örk.

The conference registration will open on this page in May 2025, after travel grant recipients will have been selected.

   Booking at conference Hotel Örk:

After registration and abstract submission, attendees will receive a discount code to book single or twin rooms at our special conference rate at conference Hotel Örk:

Standard room 20-24 m2 : 1 double bed (180 cm) or 2 or 3 single beds (90 cm).
  Per one night:
  • Single/1 person 18.046 ISK (~125 Euro)
  • Shared/2 persons 21.046 ISK (~145 Euro)
  • Shared/3 persons 30.046 ISK (~210 Euro).
 
Superior room 27 m2:
1 double bed (180 cm), or 2 single beds (90 cm) and 1 sofa bed that fits two children or one adult (130 cm).
  Per one night:
  • Single/1 person 25.976 ISK (~180 Euro)
  • Shared/2 persons 28.976 ISK (~200 Euro)
  • Shared/3 persons 34.976 ISK (~240 Euro).
 
Accommodation rate per night includes breakfast as well as access to: swimming pool, hot tubs, steam, wireless internet. 
 

Note: We are actively seeking sponsorship for the meeting and welcome any assistance. Financial support from sponsors will be primarily used to reduce the costs for students, early-career researchers and researchers from resource-limited contexts.

Abstract submission

Participants will be asked to submit their abstracts during conference registration in the online conference registration form. Beforehand, please prepare your abstract (max. 250 words) in a separate text editor for easy copy-paste into the registration webform, and decide on the conference theme you would like to submit your abstract to. Abstract submission and registration will open by the end of April, and close on 8 June 2025 at 23:59 GMT.

Travel grants

Students and early-career researcher (ECR) attendees can apply for a travel grant supported by the International Association for Volcanology and Chemistry of the Earth´s Interior (IAVCEI). You can download the application form below, and submit your completed form and abstract (in .PDF format) by 15 April 2025 by e-mail to lasi7iceland@gmail.com. The IAVCEI´s Commission on VIPS committee will then disburse full or partial grants to selected applicants. Grant decisions will be communicated by the end of April 2025.

Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible to apply for an ECR travel bursary from the IAVCEI-VIPS Commission, an applicant must fulfill the following criteria:

  • Must be a member of IAVCEI at the time of submission (IAVCEI membership number required)
  • Meet the Early-Career Researcher definition according to IAVCEI’s Statutes and Bylaws: applicants who have obtained their last most relevant degree (BSc, MSc, PhD) no more than 8 years ago (please describe the nature of any career breaks)
  • Submit an abstract for a poster/oral in-person presentation to the conference within the established deadlines – a draft copy of this abstract should be added to the bursary application
  • Not previously have been awarded an IAVCEI student/ECR travel bursary
  • Grants are non-transferable. Awardees unable to use the award for the purpose set out in their application must relinquish it
  • Submit a 200-word motivation letter related to the conference attendance (at the end of this form)
  • Submit a 250-word draft abstract to be submitted to the conference (at the end of this form)
  • Include a 200-word supporting statement from your supervisor or PI (at the end of this form)
  • Applications must be submitted electronically to lasi7iceland@gmail.com and be received by the deadline of 23.59 hrs GMT on Tuesday 15th April, 2025.
